About Kinesiology

Reiki Treatment

Kinesiology is the science of energy balancing that clears mental, emotional, physical and spiritual stress in the body, helping to remove negative patterns, self-limiting beliefs, emotional stress and physical pain.

While functional kinesiologists do not treat or diagnose, they are able to assist in detecting and correcting neuro-physiological imbalances in the body; physical, chemical, emotional or memory/trauma related.

Using muscle reflex testing (bio-feedback), the body communicates the location of imbalance in the body system, then using Traditional Chinese Medicine and other correction techniques, kinesiology assists in clearing energy blocks to restore balance.

Some of the techniques used in kinesiology include acupressure stimulation (non-invasive), neurolymphatic and neurovascular activation, sound therapy, Emotional Stress Diffusion, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Chakra balancing and flower essences.

Kinesiology can help with common ailments and address disorders such as:

  • Adrenal health/Fatigue

  • Allergies

  • Autoimmune issues

  • Chronic or acute pain

  • Digestive issues (bloating, intolerances, reflux etc)

  • Dyslexia and other learning disorders

  • Emotional stress

  • Fears and Phobias

  • Goal setting/Confidence Boosting

  • Hormonal imbalances

  • Immune support (coughs, colds, sinus)

  • Limiting beliefs/Personal development

  • Mental health (Anxiety, depression, PTSD)

  • Muscular issues (ligaments, tendons and cellular repair)

  • Nervous system support

  • Nutritional support

  • Physical pain (neck, shoulder, back, hips, ankles, migraines, etc)

  • Reproductive health (men and women)

  • Skin issues (rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, acne, etc)

  • Sleep issues

  • Speech disorders

How can kinesiology help?

When our emotional being perceives threat or danger, our physical being embodies the experience and can alter, physiological, biochemical, muscular and postural function to help protect and shield oneself from the perceived threats. Kinesiology helps to restore balance in the body by addressing and processing the emotional aspects that may have contributed to the physical manifestation. Our amazing bodies have the natural ability to heal, kinesiology just works to unlock and awaken that healing process.

Stress

Stress is a natural response to a perceived threat or challenge. It is a state of mental or emotional strain that can be caused by a wide range of factors, such as work pressure, financial worries, or relationship conflict.

While stress is a normal and necessary part of life, chronic stress can have a negative effect on your health and well-being, and can lead to a range of physical and mental health problems.

Chronic stress can also lead to changes in the brain and nervous system, including decreased brain volume, changes in the structure of neurons, and impaired cognitive function.

Symptoms of stress can manifest in the body as: headaches, fatigue, poor sleep, teeth grinding, anxiety, depression, muscle tension, digestive issues, decreased immunity and more.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or feeling like your body is out of balance physically or emotionally, kinesiology can help you to process emotions and reset homeostatic settings to restore your health.

Physical Ailments and Muscular Pain

'Our physical being is an embodiment of our emotional state.'

Our muscles, much like our emotional mind, retain memories. These memories of stress and past traumas stored in the body can result in decreased neurological integrity (breakdown of communication between brain and muscle). Symptoms of pain then emerge as the body’s crisis response to these imbalances, resulting in aches, pains, inflammation, tissue damage, joint misalignment, calcification, or other physical deviations.

Think about how your mood affects your posture. If you feel confident and happy, you often stand taller with your head held high, shoulders back and chest open. However, if you are feeling defeated, this might lead you to walk with slumped shoulders and a rounded spine as your gaze travels downward toward your feet. Similarly, a state of fear or stress might make someone more tense and rigid, causing muscular tension in the neck, shoulders and back with elevated shoulders.

Addressing the emotional root cause can help alleviate pain and inflammation with these common issues and more:

  • Neck and shoulder pain

  •
Postural imbalance

  • Back pain

  • Frozen shoulder

  • Tennis elbow

  • Knee problems

  • Joint pains

  • Limited range of movement

  • Scoliosis related pain

ABOUT

About me

Hi, I'm Catriona

In case you’re confused by my name…it’s pronounced - Cat-treena…it’s a tie to my Highland/Gaelic roots. Originally from Scotland, my family moved here when I was 5. I have to say that the blue skies and sandy beaches have my heart and I feel so lucky and grateful to call Perth my home!

I am a passionate advocate for mental and emotional wellness, and supporting others to find health and wellness. My own journey toward healing started when I hit a breaking point in my early thirties. After years of pushing my limits, I found myself diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). It was a wake-up call that changed everything. My search for healing led me to kinesiology, a practice that not only helped me recover physically but also supported me in restoring balance to my mind and emotions. In supporting my adrenals, my physical symptoms eased and my energy and clarity were restored. I left each session feeling grounded, energised and truly inspired, it really was an amazing feeling!

During my recovery, I discovered the incredible potential of kinesiology to unlock the body’s natural ability to heal. I was so inspired by the profound changes I experienced that I decided to pursue a career in this field. Knowing firsthand what it feels like to be overwhelmed and disconnected from your body, then experiencing the profound benefits of kinesiology,  I deeply understand the importance of taking a holistic approach to health. Having completed both a Diploma and Advanced Diploma certification in Kinesiology, I have had the privilege of supporting many others on their own wellness journeys. Through my practice, I offer personalised care to help clients manage stress, enhance their energy, and improve their overall well-being physically and emotionally.

Through my experience teaching Pilates, I also learned that the body holds much more than just physical tension. Emotion is often stored in our muscles, joints, fascia and tissues, and sometimes when physical pain or injury persists, it is because there is an emotional element that needs to be processed. This deep connection between mind and body became even clearer to me as I trained in kinesiology, where I discovered how addressing both the physical and emotional aspects of health can lead to lasting healing.

With my advanced diploma in kinesiology and years of practical experience, I offer a holistic approach to treatment, helping clients not only recover from physical injuries but also explore and address any emotional blocks that may be impacting their well-being. My goal is to empower you to take charge of your health, find balance, and achieve long-lasting results.

I understand the importance of a comprehensive approach to healing, and I’m here to guide you every step of the way—whether you're dealing with chronic stress, recovering from injury, or simply looking to enhance your overall vitality. Together, we can uncover the root causes of any physical or emotional discomfort and work toward a more vibrant, balanced life.

I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you on your wellness journey.
